Full Description
In this workshop, you will step into the magical world of glass by melting and shaping colored glass rods called “effetre” with a torch flame that reaches around 1200 degrees Celsius. In the past, people used oil lamps and candles to shape the glass, but today, thanks to modern torches, this unique art has become much more accessible and enjoyable. This technique is known as “lampworking” or “flameworking”.
The basic tools you will use include a torch, epoxy glass rods, a mandrel, special didymium glass and a heat blanket. With these tools you can create evil eye beads, colored beads, miniature sculptures and hollow glass forms. When making beads, you will wrap the hot glass around the mandrel and produce unique pieces entirely by hand for free-form shaping.
Workshop Includes:
1) You will become familiar with torches, glass and other shaping tools and take your first steps into the art of glassmaking.
2) You will design and create your own evil eye beads, colored beads or small glass objects. These pieces will carry your personal touch. Turn them into stylish jewelry, gift them to your loved ones or proudly display them in your home.
3) For beginners, this workshop offers a pleasant journey under the guidance of our artist, while experienced participants will have the opportunity to bring their own creative designs to life.
This workshop is open to everyone who wants to experience the magical touch of both art and glass. As you immerse yourself in this warm and colorful world, you will experience the joy of creating with your own hands.
This workshop is family friendly and children are welcome.
