Writer: Oguzhan ŞentürkOguzhan Şentürk

Turkish coffee is one of the oldest and most established representatives of world coffee culture. Coffee, which came to the Ottoman Empire via Yemen in the 16th century, quickly found a place for itself in the palace kitchen and over time became widespread among the public. With the opening of the first coffeehouses in Istanbul, coffee became not just a beverage; it also became an inseparable part of conversation, art and literature.

Turkish coffee was included in the Intangible Cultural Heritage list by UNESCO in 2013 and became a registered cultural element worldwide. It has a unique place in the coffee experience with its traditional presentation, cooking method and cultural value.
